As Rupert alludes, companies release these announcements and punters say they have read them, when in fact, they never had a clue of what the content was about.
In this case EastWing1 was capped as a gas discovery hole, which means $$$$$. A revenue stream, if you like.
Lastly, sufficient information was provided from this single hole to warrant even more testing - in order to confirm that oil is present in commercial quantity.
Now this additional test work costs plenty, and the expense is never justified unless there's reasonable certainty of the outcome.
Does this help - or would it be better to say the price might go up if they hit oil, because even if they don't prove oil, the price will go up anyway. Naturally after a few of the market transients leave the room
