For those interested, DAFF, which is the lead/sponsor agency
for the G8 contract, and by far the largest department out of all the G8 agencies, has announced that it intends to issue a RFT in early June, expected to close early August.
I would reasonably expect that it would then probably take 2 to 3 months to evaluate tender responses and select a successfull tender, and then another few months of contract negotiations.
So I would reasonably expect that a successfully tender will have been selected and engaged by end of this year or very early next year at the latest
Followed a transition period, if a new vendor has been selected, in the following period up till June 2009, when they fully take over the contract
None of the other G8 agencies have yet formally indicated their intentions. Some may tag along with whoever DAFF select as their preferred vendor, some may go their own way. I suspect that some of them are sitting back and waiting for the outcome with DAFF
I do know that there is going to be very strong competition for this contract from a number of large Australian and US outsourcing companies.
And while I have no idea who will win this contract, I do have strong personal views on who I believe will NOT win this contract
