Perhaps because of that payment, people in Florida missed out on millions in the multi-million dollar settlement from Trump for the money that had been swindled from them.

Corruption is corruption. Doesn't matter who does it. It has to be stamped out wherever it springs up. A key impediment to that in the US is that US state prosecutors can be bribed legally.
