it is hard to believe that the staff made that error, but they obviously did. Surely you’re not suggesting a hyjack or similar ? Why was it unsafe? Nobody was in any danger whatsoever, they just went to a different place . As I said I suspect they knew during the flight and decided to continue. The in flight captain announcing eta and weather would have given it away.
