I tested Phillips Hue and you need multiple hubs if you have a big house. Phillips make their own hub now because their lights were so flakey. The hubs need a good conection to each other as well to form the mesh network.
Lifx connects to pure wireless so they will run inside and outside your home as long as it has a wireless connection running. My garage lights run off the wireless router in the house. If you lose power and wireless.....well you wont have lights working anyway.
If you lose wireless ie if you have the NBN Hahaha....then they can be turned on and off at the switch like normal globes but you cant change colour until wireless is restored.
It is a cleaner solution overall and I have 22 globes currently...I just ordered two outdoor globes for the driveway which will come on as I approach the house at night.
