Its pear tree which is another bread all together and it is rife throughout the region, fencing off is just impractical and a waste of time.
Its the birds that spread it after they eat the fruit from somewhere else. The local council has released the moth a couple of times in the last two years nearby so there is no need to do it again as it is visible in the older cacti.
It grows to fifteen feet tall around here and the only safe way to treat it at that height is to cut it down and spray it when it is on the ground.
You have to spray every piece of it or it will grow on the ground. Actually the poison Access is the best at killing this pest. It is mixed with diesel and sprayed on and the diesel is far better than water as it stays much longer. Last time I bought some it was $85 a litre.
I often go around and just cleave all the little ones out by hand pile them up down the corner of the paddock, wait for it to die off and burn it all.
