Hi Scarpa you might find this of interest.
Panasonic build the batteries for Tesla. Tesla model S & X range is further than others. The car is larger and lighter in some ways than their opposition models with all Aluminium frame. Saving weight makes a huge difference. Also Aluminium use is a factor necessary in overall EV demand and I'm sure bauxite prices should increase as well.
How is it Panasonic build better batteries than the Chinese companies like CATL?
Is it more Talison product than peers?
Different chemistry of anode materials to provide better recharge cycles and slow the degradation of batteries?
I know Telsa work a lot on battery temperature to improve and optimise performance. Keeping the batteries at their optimum performance levels requires the battery temperature to do likewise.
Panasonic is building better quality batteries because unlike CATL who is selling cheaper lower quality batteries to the local customers, Panasonic has to meet strict international standards and testing of battery performance. CATL using lower grade lithium as it is cheaper and supply more of a margin. This will be where AVZ low deleterious elements shine through!
Elon is in process of signing a deal to have Tesla cars built in China and you know full well the Chinese will not be happy letting a Japanese company into China. Hence they are negotiating with CATL to supply and why the negotiations are protracting.
