Sorry, you lost me at "the world is ticking along nicely" and calling what we're in now a "recession". We wouldn't be discussing the monetary system if this was true. Fiat was an experiment and its failing. It'll be a while before this is obvious and change is made. A return to a hard backed monetary system will happen eventually, probably implemented on blockchain tech. I consider this progress. I bet 10 years ago you would've called Britain moving out of the Euro union an impossibility, a move backwards but here we are.
