    I think an important hint is the fantasy world he describes in the song Into White.

    The song suggests he has followed his dreams in life.

    Having achieved his dreams it leads to his ultimate state of mind he calls into 'Into White.'

    So I would be looking at a state of mind that devotees might aspire to achieve in a religion such as Buddhism.
