There's something distinctly American about Mr Padilla's belief. Whether it's Jay Gatsby or Donald Trump, the country has long envied and aspired to the self-made man.But an unfolding college admissions scandal has many Americans questioning whether the "land of opportunity" is increasingly beyond reach.
Well I'm not so sure I agree with the description of Trump being "self-made"!
However, maybe this is just another sign the American empire's time is approaching its autumn years
