I would hope that we have " the ability to transfer and cross-reference patient info across all hospitals "as you said, built in and that it is made common knowledge to the NHS.
Come to think of it, why stop there? Make that ability "generic" so the relevant NHS data can be cross-referenced to that of the whole world. Health should know no global boundaries of any kind.
