The explanation, as far as it stands, from SFR and within the literature is that DeGrussa is a VMS, which would mean it is syngenetic (ie; formed with the rocks it is hosted in).
The association of Wodger, Forrest and Big Billy with veining, the structural control evident, and the fact Auris seems to be backing away from classifying it as a VMS, point to this being epigenetic (formed after the host rocks).
The source of epigenetic vein hosted mineralisation at Big Billy, Wodge and Forrest and Thaduna is a bit of a puzzler. The mechanism isn't too unusual, being a redox effect of iron-rich mafics or, at Thaduna, bitumen.
