"...this is now by far and away my biggest holding and I am torn whether to sell down a little - it’s gone from $14 - $16.40 while I prevaricate!"
I know the feeling. That's profitable prevarication!
Looking at today's (Monday's) trading, there is something that puzzles me.
There were 669 crossed (XT) trades. That is trades where one broker handled both sides of the transaction, presumably for two separate clients.
However, of those 669 trades, 218 were for for a single share, and 351 were for 10 shares or less.
Why would they be frigging around with small trades like that?
The only way I can make sense of that is that at least one of the broker's clients has an arrangement with the broker whereby they are not paying per trade commissions and that client was feeding the broker with tiny robot scale orders, which the broker was matching with orders from another client.
Most of the crossed trades were centre point (CX) trades, so maybe the client submitting the robot sized orders was getting the benefit of that.
Most of the crossed trades transacted between $17.00 and $17.20.
Who would have an arrangement with a broker whereby they are not paying per trade commissions?
Could the broker itself be one of the "clients" in the crossed trades, trading on their own behalf.
I guess that could explain the robot sized trades.
Also, as posted previously, I am curious as to how 1.05% of the company came to be transacted in the closing auction last Friday.
Cheers
