spherical graphite is a value-added product, not some gold or oil or gas you find by chance and luck in abundance in some regions and not in others. the feedstock costs (raw natural graphite) are known and mostly fixed (for small flakes 500US$-800US$ per tonne), the remaining of the costs are mostly energy consumption costs, why syrah costs would be lower than the chinese ? again unless syrah keeps to itself the 98% stuff and refuses to export it to china, which i doubt they can afford they need the revenue from the chinese at least in the short-medium run.
