Yes, you can certainly contribute and it extends the range. But you don’t want to be caught flat before a steep hill that you would normally zing up.
All this talk about electric cars is pretty pathetic really. For low distance commuting (20km each way) an electric bike is the obvious answer. Quicker than a car or public transport, much cheaper to buy and no parking problems.
