The interview really clarified some aspects for me. In particular, with existing technology, undergound mining of large and deep orebodies, even at lowish copper/gold grades, can be very profitable and cheaper than open-cut. Some examples were quoted. Anyway, we don't have to be concerned about the mining side of things, the strategy as advised in the interview is to explore, define the resource size and tenor, then flog it. Interesting comment also that the porphyry guts is possibly 300 metres further south of hole 44 but next hole (45) is 100 metres south as a prudent measure, and 46 likely a further 100 metres south again as we close in on the target. Was explained this step by step approach was prudent given the geological complexities.
