    I agree with much of what you say Tau
    I just don't think that EVs are the answer

    Issues with longevity, sourcing of prime materials and safe disposal of used batteries will work against it.
    They remind me of the BETA technology of the 80s

    As mentioned before - I think the future will be with hydrogen fuelled cars -
    I see them as the VHS technology of the 80s

    As already mentioned by another poster - Mazda have developed a diesel engine (SPCCI) which has fewer emissions than a coal fired power plant and great performance. I think we will see this type of technology and the hybrid technology that you had an experience with overseas for quite a while.
    EVs will fill a small void in the market until the owners try and trade them in and find that as the battery is about to expire and that they are worthless as second hand vehicles after 10 years
