Sooo...Ummmm...who is going to pay for the roads and infrastructure when according to all the EV enthusiasts everybody will be driving a battery powered vehicle soon?
Not only that but the Greens and presumably the ALP want to do away with all coal fired power and have no idea what to replace it with....so then...how do we then recharge thousands of electric cars at night or during the day when the dreamed about battery powered grid is busy warming water for baths and showers and powering stoves to cook, while running, air conditioners, TV's and computers? As well as the lights air conditioning and escalators in commercial buildings, the electric trains and trams, plus all other street lighting, commercial refrigeration and so on?
(It has been noted that if New York's Central Park, 3.41 square kilometres, were a solar farm there would not be enough power generated by that whole area to run just the New York subway system!)
On the subject of EV's, Governments are running around madly now trying to figure out how they are going to charge the EV owner as he / she will be paying no road tax at a bowser.
All well and good to think you are going to plug in to a "super" battery charge when ever your battery needs a tickle up, but what about the other thirty people in front of you trying to plug in as well?
The whole idea is great, but totally impracticable and unworkable; on a large scale...dream on.
