That route needs serious upgrade and can’t really be considered if they are looking at ‘early’ mining activity ; the road south will be in by end of this year so that’s the in and out route near term. IMO they will have to use the southern route for the transport study. As you’ve said Doc , there’s plenty of infrastructure activity going on around Manono ; so go south until some other line improves. The Tazara line is undergoing upgrade works and they are looking to build on capacity; service and timing has improved significantly over the last two years alone; but I’d image that the cost per tonne is likely to be abit higher than what was reported in the last Transport study; but if they wanna get running early that’s the route they need to run. Going south by your numbers is there enough for 5mtpa? How to negotiate 10mtpa, I suppose that’s a slightly later milestone, but I imagine offtaker suitors are ‘clambering’ for more sooner for supply security.
