I can also give several examples against your argument. Look what the instos did to RFG and it's good that some of them can't buy in AUZ now.
Your logic of comparing companies based on not such important thing is flawed. How a company runs it's business determines it's fate several times more than who is holding the shares. Shareholders change based on how a company is doing. Not all companies have institutional shareholders at start.
