Actually Yeo Inc appointed the two apparatchiks to lead a review committee of three months duration, while Mahathir was out of the country.
On his return Mahathir immediately trashed that and instigated a committee of six academics to run six weeks then prepare a report to Cabinet alongside Yeo Inc's recommendations.
Yeo Inc hijacked the report, and unilaterally pronounced her demands re residues.
The reaction of Mahathir's Cabinet remains a mystery, incl response to Japanese, US & Australian Govt expressions of interest.
