There's a stunning unreality in our inner cities. Basically, the inner-city resident turns a tap, flicks a switch, or presses a button, and services are supplied to them. They use the extra leisure time that this gives them, for campaigning viciously against all the companies that provide the services. And they have no idea that that is what they are doing. They think they can stop all gas exploration and production, and that it won't affect their own energy supply. etc. etc. If they think at all, that is. It never seems to occur to them that it takes a lot of skill and hard work to get those services to their taps, switches and buttons, and that if something else was cheaper / better / more reliable / etc, then we would be using it already.
I applaud Ian Davies for his statement. Businessmen usually just keep their heads down. We need many many more statements like his. And soon - before the lights go out.
