This isn't a winner takes all category.
Customers will come and go between platforms. Some looking for a perceivable edge, some will be price driven, some will be referral driven etc etc.
The argument is mute. There will be a category winner but not category killer at this point. The battle is one of marketing, sales, product, customer service/support. Supporting this battle requires revenues to re-invest, a suitable balance sheet, management to lead, supportive shareholders.
CAT are well ahead and can only trip on themselves.
Despite management changes over the past couple years we still see YoY growth.
Both can build sustainable companies and both thrive and survive. In fact the category needs both brands to drive market awareness.
But outside of individual club wins/losses do you honestly believe that STAT will overtake CAT in marketshare? My bet is on CAT remaining the dominant company in the space on all fronts.
