Sky high in Sydney with Amazon AlexaPOSTED FEBRUARY 2, 2019 IN HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL DIVISION, AMAZON ALEXA, QUANTIFY TECHNOLOGY, SIMPLE. INNOVATIVE. LIMITLESS.The whirlwind week with Amazon Alexa has come to an end. However, it’s certainly not goodbye forever.Quantify were honoured to host Alexa Smart Properties’ Senior Business Development Manager Brendan Gotch, in Sydney on 6 February for the second and final event in the series, following the Breakfast with Amazon Alexa in Perth two days prior. With no rain in sight, around 80 builders, developers, electricians and engineers gathered at The Burcham apartments in Rosebery for a delightful rooftop experience. The event was organised by Harvey Norman Commercial Division (HNCD) and consisted of drinks and canapes, a short speech on the future of building automation followed by a tour of the display suite.Alan Stephenson of HNCD outlined why home automation was so important to developers today. Our CEO, Brett Savill, talked about how the Quantify devices can deliver a simple, seamless experience for homeowners and take only fifteen minutes to install vs an hour for the competition. Finally, Brendan discussed how builders and developers are using Alexa to improve the attractiveness of their properties. Brendan mentioned one client in the US found rental yields improved 5% following the installation of smart home automation; another found that it added $50,000 to the value of the property.Brett added that 24% of Australian homes have some type of automation just behind the US at 33%.“If a property does not have smart home automation today, it will not be differentiated. If it does not have it in a few years’ time, it may not be sold at all,” Brett said.Brendan is heading to India before returning to Seattle. Hopefully, we can welcome him back to Australia in the not-too-distant future.
