Purdue Pharma (a private company) is reported to be considering filing for bankruptcy as it faces roughly 2,000 lawsuits from US cities, counties, states and tribes. The lawsuits allege that Purdue (along with other companies) misled doctors and patients about risks associated with prolonged use of its prescription opioids.
Shares in Endo, which has also been named, were down 17% in reaction to the news.
