JB left CFE a little over a year ago rastes... and from memory it was because CFE wasn't progressing the deal that JB brought to CFE in the DRC.
As for Magna as a financier, well they're in the game to make money for themselves (as we all are) and their model is to build in more aggressive protections for themselves so that they can't lose. Where Magna is a problem as a financier is where a company goes to them to seek funding in circumstances where the company is not able to add value to their project, and by extension the SP, such that they can do an equity raise at a higher price to clear the Magna debt. That's when Magna starts taking repayment in shares issued at a discount to VWAP that it then dumps on market to maintain its own liquidity and then repeats that process until the loan is cleared and they've exited the company entirely.
If you go into a financing deal with Magna in a similar mindset to buying a used car (i.e. expecting to get ripped off and keeping your eyes open for the traps), then you should be ok
