    So why do the mints make legal tender coins from gold and silver? Only difference is the intrinsic value of gold/silver money is far higher than the face value, Fiat currency has zero intrinsic value.

    Money should also be a store of wealth. Fiat currency is a store of wealth for about 5 minutes
