Ive noticed all the new tradies with their 70,000 utes and their dirt bikes and I cringe at the debt they must be under even with the tax incentives its still debt that needs to be repayed. Most of them dont believe downturns in the building industry exist and have never seen one.
You are correct imo about transferring all the risk onto the tradies. Then they dont have to pay super or insurance or supply any tools etc etc.
I know some people that own a distributors business raking in a lot of money and they make their sales people take out an ABN and supply all their own insurance etc. Its a con and Im not sure its at all legal. There are laws that if you make most of your income from one source then you are considered an employee and are due the benefits of being an employee. All this stuff is one reason why the apprenticeships have disappeared in some industries.
