    So- airports NO; Mining O.K! Not logical and does not make any sense. Financing and usage/control are separate issues. Just because China may have financed an airport does no mean they now can place strategic bombers there. Usage/ control is still with Greenland/ Denmark and subject to Greenland/ Denmark rules/laws/ regulations. I think the fear is really that if China " gets its foot in the door" that Greenland will gradually become more dependent and involved with China as it is beneficial to them and I suspect that China would make very attractive deals for the Greenlanders. China has a long term plan in mind. If that is the case it would also apply to mining and other business activities. Bottom line- China does have a long term plan to become once again a great and powerful nation and the West in general and US in particular fears that as it is difficult to give up being the " top dog " .
