they may request to see D17 results and say "yep, we're happy with that, few more tweaks and shes a winner. Hand over the keys 4DS, we'll take it from here. goodbye"

or they just sit on their hands and wait to 3rd iteration and megabit chip - from WD POV that only further de-risks 4DS technology, but equally it gives SP time to rise so it could be more expensive for them.
