When we say 1/3 = 0.3333... we are correct. But this says that 1/3 is a infinite series, it does not resolve to a whole number ever. It is not 1.
When we say 1/9 = 0.1111.... we are correct. Again it says that 1/9 is an infinite series, it never terminates and again isnt a whole number. It is not 1 either.
So why would you say 1= 0.999...?
When we say 1/1 = 1 we are correct. But that is because it resolves to a whole number.
If we both agree that 1/1 = 1, then by definition 1/(whatever else that isnt 1) cannot equal 1
Tell me, what number divided into 1 gives 0.99..?
It certainly isnt 1, we agreed that already, or are you seriously saying 1/1 does not equal 1?
Because you cant have it both ways.
