Me too Learning. Also on the other side of the world. What is needed is some word from Prana (or UQ) to show where PBT2 stands among the hit compounds. It seems to me like PBT2 may have some lead just by the fact P1's in humans are done. I wonder how you would go about a trial to prove PBT2 and zinc against MRSA in humans? The highest incidence of MRSA is in developed countries where antibiotics are freely available. The US is right up there, with the highest Romania followed by Malta. The charts I saw don't even rate Aus, so I guess a trial in Aus would be difficult, if those figures are correct. What other drugs could be used as a zinc ionophore other than PBT2? CQ does not have good BBB penetration, and Deferiprone has the penetration, but probably will not drop the zinc in the cell because it's zinc binding strength is too strong. Possibly that will also apply to the bacteria outer membrane. Obviously, from the study results PBT2 can cross the bacteria outer membrane. Not sure about the others. This is all just guesswork because Prana is saying nothing. They said they were working on non neuro uses for PBT2, but when UQ presents it on a plate, the silence is deafening.
