"Resolute Mining advises its gold mines at Ravenswood have emerged unscathed from the floodwaters that devastated Townsville, 140 kilometres north of Ravenswood. Shares are up 2.9 per cent to $1.05.
"Operations are running as normal and the unprecedented extreme rainfall has not caused any damage to site infrastructure," the company told the market this morning. Flood waters restricted site access and prevented crew change overs, and the company operated on a partial shut down as it "prioritised the need for staff to be with their families and protect their homes".
"The estimated impact of the partial shut-down is the delay of several days of gold production which the site team will now attempt to make up during the remainder of the quarter." The company has made a donation to the Red Cross to support the region's recovery. It still expects to produce 300,000 ounces of gold in the current financial year."
