Private schools will all have their own policy. Disappointing that they don't recognize the school mode. Hopefully some dialogue with the schools that have a ban brings them around. After all the watches are a safety device for younger kids and that should override a blanket policy about a watch with a sim that doesn't have social media and does have a school mode.
Does your school allow the kids to bring the watch to school, turn it off during school hours (lock it up in their locker) and then turn it back on after the bell? I'd be surprised if many schools try and ban that. That at least allows the kids to contact parents after school and parents to know where the kids are if they have sports or go to a friends house after school, etc.
