The technology used by Onyx Solar is amorphous silicon photovoltaic glass. From the link, it would appear to have limitations. Regardless of those limitations, the company has built a business around it.
One can only assume that as superior technology comes on line, it will replace the old technology.
With the support of the University of New South Wales, CPV is working hard toward achieving that aim.
