not sorry to pop your bubble research, but what you said is wrong, there are machine companies who make highly specialized patented machines and do not sell nor lease them:

there are many many more companies on earth with machines that operate w.a.a.s style for over 40 years.
these companies like dryship companies cold store machines that are not in use.
