Most professional Punters have a direct contact with Stables. Most stables have a (Professional) Punter on "side".
When a Horse wins the Trainers usually get their "sling" from..... not only.... the Owners.

Its been going on since day dot.

Many a Trainer or Jockey  have got caught up in Betting scandals over the years.

Greed/Addiction applies to most in this game.

With my last horse I owned I used to follow what the Stable Punter was doing, not what the Trainer told me.

The shining light for you is you have a decent horse and the sh#t is behind you  and hopefully you enjoy many more successes (without the punt on your part over riding that.)
