I don't know if this is correct but I thought I would post this image from AVL's twitter website - https://twitter.com/ausvanadium?lang=en

I was trying to get my head around this mathematically to give context to what is been said in your posts.  Maybe it is a fluke equation but I think the top line is possibly wrong btw but I think this is the formula (but maybe it is a fluke and you might both have a better gauge) and I need to clear my head again.

    Taking the bottom line:

    Step 1: determine vanadium content = 1mt * 0.7% = 7000 tonne V205.
    Step 2:  (2.2%/0.7% * 7000) = (3.1428571 * 7000) = 22,000 potential
    Step 3: (mass recovery - concentrate grade) which is (10% - 2.2%) * 22,000 = 1716 tonnes V205

If I went the way I conceptually thought it would be done, when looking at other mineral resources, I don't get  the answer, but maybe it is because vanadium is unique as demonstrated by the articles themselves (i.e. because only the vanadium in magnetite is only recoverable) so would be interested in the formula itself to get my understanding up.

Going to the top line and looking at the mass recovery, and the red represents mass recovery and that makes sense when you look at the 10% bottom line) you can see it is nowhere near 60% in the red.  My guess, if I have the formulas correct above, is mass recovery in the top line in the top one is 48%

    i.e. (1,000,000 *0.5%) * (1.2%/0.5%) * (48% - 1.2%) = 5,616 tonnes.

If anyone has a better guess on the mathematical basis of the above please share because either the way I approached the calc for the bottom row is a total coincidence and therefor the top row has an error, or I need to have a few VBs to clear the mind and get the calc correct.

In an equation form, I think you get a better handle of the argument around ore grade, vanadium in magnetite, concentrate, mass yield and ultimate tonnes of V205 produced.

    All IMO
