Don't know where they get "Left-wing" from, that's likely just a lazy ad-hominem tag from a fake news site to try to preemptively bat away criticism of his views on this topic.
Whether he's Left or Right-wing though, he's certainly been a long-standing and consistent apologist for Putin.
