The story here is that of an opportunity to export a working model of primary healthcare, done well for a country of 24 million people - to a country of 1,386 million people (56x the size) - who is still in the early phase of finding a model that will serve and be trusted by the majority.

This takeover is a tribute to the history of HLS, it’s management and staff who have served and cared for the sick patients of Australia, day in / day out, for the last 30+ years

HLS may not have fully served shareholders, but this marks a once in a generational opportunity to potentially provide primary healthcare that will care for sick patients at a scale (and size) never imagined by the late Bateman.

In the end, this deal will be good in more ways than $. HLS will help many people, when you look ahead to the next 30 years under new management.
