Hi ammie
I went looking for the article you reference
China injects record funds to counter tax, holiday cash demand
and found this published the next day
China quietly cuts borrowing costs while keeping rates on hold
The main point I have taken onboard in my trying to understand the relative strengths of the US economy vs China's, in regards to the trade war, is... the Chinese Govt don't have to fund any social welfare net.... meaning China can run up a paper loss over a very much longer period of time.
I have seen the way China's state owned enterprises toy with Oz companies [over the last few years]... they consistently employ the tactic of stringing people along. They adopt an initial position and make noises about things progressing and then... nothing happens. If China is serious about doing a deal they don't hesitate... when they dawdle it's because they think they can extract better terms over time. I firmly believe the US is being played like that at the moment.
