Not sure we're you're getting this " narrow focus " thing about me from. Are you pidgeon holing me with anyone else that doesn't agree with you?
I agree that this might not alll be about CO2. I've never expressed a position one way or another on that.
What I do know is that producing electricty with no emissions other than those involved in creating the industry is a smart and sensible thing. Using fossil fuel only once is a pretty dumb thing to do in my book. Sure, it helped us get to this point and that's cool . But now, we know that we can move forward and preserve some of that resource which is very important.
So the " best science " is telling me that we have a solution to what we think is the problem so let's go with it. At worst if it turns out that CO2 isn't a problem we will still have an abundant, cheap non polluting power source for ever.
Where's the downside in that ?
Make no mistake. I am not suggesting this renewable energy revolution has been as perfect or as efficient as it could've been.
Far, far from it in fact. When you try and implement anything involving humans you will get obstruction, bias and hassle.
That said, I see what as been achieved up to this point as in investment in the future. Renewable energy, for the first time is starting to make a real impact . We know for sure that it works and what we need to do to move from here to a proper baseload type system.
Remember that this is and will be the next power system for the next 50-100 years until someone comes up with something better
So, it has been a worthwhile investment in my view. As I've said previously, incredibly , frustratingly flawed in getting
to this point but you would have to agree that the path forward is pretty clear now.
