I agree with you in the respect the 5G is going to be postive for everyone and so is moving away from NBN.

I have been working in the Industry for 10+ years, a friend of mine is currently installing the 5G antennas, they are simply installing them in the same spots as the 4G antennas, this is not how 5G is designed to work. Yes your average user will be able to connect to a 5G antenna every now and then and get faster speeds (which can't really be used as 4G will already allow you to watch netflix ect.. without buffering). These new opportunities everyone is talking about Driver less cars, the IOT things ect... are still years away and will require a lot more infrastructure.

When this does eventually happen will it be good for TLS and Optus and anyone else who has a 5G network, definitely as more devices = more money. Also as i have mentioned ISP's can move away from NBN and sell wireless internet and bundled packages for your home, car mobile ect...

However Telstra is not going to be the only company offering this service, they are still going to have to compete with Optus ect..

Telstra should make more profits however 5G is not going to make Telstra's share price go to $10 like people are saying. In fact apart from some hype i doubt the share price will move significantly from the roll out of 5G.
