We need some honesty in the debate because retirees who take advantage of many tax incentives would never have relied on the age pension anyway So it has become a cost to taxpayers in addition to the aged pension.
The economy as a whole would benefit from tax reform so not a fan of any party's policies but we will get nowhere with incessant demands for handouts to rent seekers.
Housing and retirement are not productive so why all the focus on it annoys me.
You buy a house, it is already there so no new economic activity. Then want a profit from doing nothing? Then take the proceed shove into super and pay no tax while you go fishing? It is great f we live in a country that can provide that but we seem to have lost sight of the fact we need someone doing some productive activity or it all goes down the gurgler, Home building is not the big prize but at least it provides some economic activity. Still I prefer no incentives at all.
Our priorities are all wrong when we have this sort of whine, seriously.
