I honestly don't know, maybe the crash would have been shorter, who knows. Maybe compare with 2000 and 1987 when algos weren’t around and make an educated guess. Smarter minds than mine have deliberated long and hard about this. The lesson did sink in after 08/09 for me, get rid of the tiddlers early and hold the good long-established companies, not the shiny new stars (Babcock and Brown anyone?) and don’t get back in or start adding to existing holdings too early. That’s my plan and I am sticking to it. Difference this time is I am holding more gold companies. But hey, maybe I am just too cautious, but I learned the hard way.
