Rolling stock for bauxite I reckon would be different to rolling stock for general freight so how would the bauxite be back-loaded? Be a bugger getting the grit out of those diesel tankers!

Bollore move 1.8Mt of freight per annum at the moment, not all of which will be eastward-bound so the 10Mtpa back-load seems a bit of a stretch irrespective.

Don't forget that this is not Pilbara rail - the rail passes through towns and city and handles passenger trains as well.

It's not a coincidence that rail lines handling bulk products heading to the coast for export go downhill.

If there's to be a rail link through Ngaoundere to Chad then won't that increase the freight volume on the line and reduce the capacity for haulage of bauxite?
