I just had a look back over the charts for the US 500 futures and the expiration dates.
Doesn't seem to be any noticeable change in direction or volume, if anything they are low volume/low spread days.
Most traders seem to be already out of the positions previously by this date and it seems more a formality than anything of significance.
Although the spreads and volatility in the current markets are nothing like we've experienced in a long while so if whatever plays out today/tonight should be the same in the future if the current volatile conditions persist.
