1. a forest, ocean, or other natural environment viewed in terms of its ability to absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Consider this:

If wood is able to be processed into syngas, we might one day see forrests being grown for the purpose of producing hydrogen.

The process would go something like this:

-  grow tree plantations

-  harvest timber and process into syngas

-  Hazer Process syngas to produce hydrogen and graphite

If this turns out to be a reality, it would bring some serious carbon negativity into the equation (in a sustainable way).
