I'm not too experienced but I would be pretty sure that you can sell your shares after the deadline has past without it compromising your opportunity to take part in the new offering. I think it would operate like a dividend cut-off date. You can sell your shares after the cut-off date and still receive the dividend. The idea that a company could track all transactions after the cut-off date and adjust the list of offerees every time there's a trade would not be likely.
