There are only  about 100 full sunny days in Australia which means base load power is needed for the other 265 days be that coal, gas or nuclear.

Coal and gas give out emissions hence it gets down to solar and nuclear.

Because solar is a low intensity power supply and unreliable power source Its implementation is a impediment to using nuclear as a fully economical reliable power source.

If nuclear was the first power of choice its economy of scale would be vastly enhanced as a cheap, reliable, emmision free and safe source of energy.
